Broken

Last night in our flat there was a blinding flash in a manner similar to someone secretly taking our photo. I stumbled to the window (this was a saturday night) and began searching for the secret celebrity hunter.

This morning I have just woken up, sat on the sofa and tried to turn the television on. Nothing. It does not turn on, it does not make a noise, it is a big black box which is now just taking up space. My mind now casts back to flash last night... was it the bulb in the television blowing? And if it was, surely that means that at the very least there should be power going to the box when i turn it on, but at the moment it does nothing so maybe it is somethign else?

Suggestion greatly appreciated

Only a suggestion, is that there might be a very very slim outside chance that a person in the appartment might have put a drink down on the tv and might have spilled some liquid in the vents on the tv which tends to short them out !!! having experienced many crew parties in hotel bedrooms, I have been witness to this unusual phenomenen many times. ps We used to swap the TV with one from an empty room if we saw a door open !!!!!

hmmmm lightning? that would account for the flash! Is it just the telly not working? Maybe the fuse has blown but that wouldn't flash - unless the lightning flashed and blew the fuse! As it's flats I guess others would be affected by lightning or any fault beyond the telly and the socket. Trouble with swapping (apart from the legal issues) is that if the fault is in the wiring and not fixed - flash bang wallop - no picture! Sounds like you might need a sparky. Good luck.
